Personalization by Day of the Week

PersonalizeWP offers powerful personalization rules as part of it’s feature-set that allow you to show and hide content based on who they are, where they have come from and their behavoiurs and actions on your site.

By using personalization, you can create a more engaging and relevant user experience by tailoring content, recommendations, and interactions to individual preferences. This leads to increased user satisfaction and retention.

Show content depending on the day of the week

The Day of the Week rule is ideal for businesses looking to show specific content to their visitors on particular days. Whether it’s for promoting special deals, highlighting different menus, or displaying time-sensitive information, this rule lets you automatically update your site’s content based on the day of the week.

How to start using this feature

Go to your PersonalizeWP dashboard, then click on the Personalization section.

From here, you will need to click on the ‘Create Rule’ button, which will be in the top right-hand corner of your screen.

You will be taking to the ”Add New Rule’ page, where you can add your day of the week rule.

For example, if you’d like to show content on a Monday, you need to:

  • Add a rule name
  • Select the ‘time’ category
  • Select the conditions ‘Day of the Week’ > ‘Is equal to’ > ‘Monday’
  • Click the ‘Create rule’ button at the bottom of the page

Then your rule will be ready to use within the block editor.

To use the rule, go to a content block, go to the right-hand side Personalize menu.

Under the ‘Rules’ section, select your new rule and scroll down to ‘Then take the following action’ and select show block or hide block, depending on what you want to do.

Combining rules to unlock more functionality

You can combine rules to use this feature for even more targeted content, for example, you could add more days to create a rule to show content blocks exclusively on Weekdays or Weekends. You could also combine it with the ‘time of visit’ rule, to show content at a certain time period on that specific day – such as if you wanted to show an offer on a Tuesday afternoon.

To do this, when you are creating a rule, you would just need to add more conditions by clicking on ‘+ Add’ underneath the conditions section.

An example use case:

If you were running a restaurant and you wanted to highlight your Sunday Lunch offering, you would go into the Personalization dashboard and create a rule targeting Sundays (as explained above). Once you create a rule, you would go to a specific page on your website and add a content block which includes information about your Sunday Lunch offers.

Then, you would need to select the block and go to the right-hand side ‘Personalize’ menu. Under ‘Rules’ you will select your Sunday rule and scroll down to select ‘show block’ under the ‘then take the following action’ section.

After this, all you would need to do is publish the page and your new block will be visible, only on a Sunday.
